If Becky had insisted that Isaac dance on stage, he might have realized how much fun he would have been missing out on. He would not have missed the chance to dance with his friends. As soon as the dance began, he said that he really did want to be on stage. On the other hand, if Becky had made Isaac get up on stage, it might not have been a good situation. He may have gotten emotional and made a scene on stage and distracted the other kids.
By making his own choice, Isaac was able to realize the consequences of his own actions and decisions. He might have realized that others may know what is best for him. Becky knew how much fun he would have if he got on stage and danced. She also knew that he would probably regret his decision to sit out, which she was right about. As children get older, they need to be given chances to make decisions for themselves.
